new method book

Postby inner3 » Fri Oct 30, 2009 12:08 am

There's a new method book out with over 160 pages of exercises that is great for upcoming auditions. It is titled "The Synergy Method for Drumming". You can view some of the content on Google books and Amazon.com and order on www.createspace.com/3390043. The book also contains chapters on the psychology of drumming and studies on kinesiology and philosophy for performing. Please check it out when you can. You can also visit the website www.inner3.com for more information and upcoming videos.
Best of luck!

I was stoked that this book was out there when I heard about it. It's a pretty good resource. After playing w/ technique from Cavies(Mac) style to SCV(Gusseck) style, and just from drumming for almost 10 years, I had pretty much arrived at this style or "method" on my own and of course wanted to see what a Dr. in Percussion could contribute to enrich what I know. I was expecting a little more in depth coverage of every aspect of this method. But it is a great resource for me to use with my students, as I have not yet put how I approach drumming into so concise a format as this yet. It could use some editing for spelling and wording errors, some in depth explanation of why and how each exercise utilizes this method, some more external sources for example and explanation sake, and paring down so it less resembles a term paper (double spacing and the way the thoughts are laid out).

Overall, it's a good resource, a little pricey for the content (double spaced and full of "exercises") but worth checking out.

Thanks Dr. Jackson
