Snare attachment for quads

I'm looking for information on the things that the Cavaliers used in the early nineties to convert tenors (and basses, I believe) to snares. It was similar to a floor tom dampener pad, but instead of the pad there was a rake of snare wires kind of a like a dreadlock that would be pressed against the head and vibrate like snare guts. They could be switched on and off just like the dampener pads.

Any help?
